2. In 1986, the Commission on the Status of Women considered a report of the Secretary-General on the status and situation of older women in their societies (E/CN.6/1986/10). The World Conference to Review and Appraise the Achievements of the United Nations Decade for Women: Equality, Development and Peace, held in 1985 in Nairobi, Kenya, also addressed the issue of older women.
