Article II of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide defines the acts regarded as genocide, which include killing members of a national or religious group, causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group or deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part.
فقد حددت المادة الثانية من اتفاقية منع جريمة الابادة الجماعية والمعاقبة عليها، اﻷفعال التي تعد محققة لﻹبادة الجماعية ومنها: قتل أعضاء الجماعة سواء كانت قومية أو دينية أو الحاق أذى جسدي أو روحي خطير بأعضاء من الجماعة أو إخضاع الجماعة عمدا لظروف معيشية يراد بها تدميرها المادي كليا أو جزئياً.

وقد حددت المادة الثانية من الاتفاقية اﻷعمال التي تعد محققة لﻹبادة الجماعية، ومنها قتل أعضاء الجماعة " سواء كانت قومية أو دينية ... " أو الحاق أذى جسدي أو روحي خطير بأعضاء من الجماعة أو إخضاع الجماعة عمدا لظروف معيشية يراد بها تدميرها المادي كليا أو جزئيا.

6. The Convention's only remaining reference to cultural genocide or, more generally, genocide through means that do not directly involve violence, concerns extremely serious assimilation policies, such as " causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group " or " forcibly transferring children of the group to another group " .
