In his reform programme the Secretary-General recommended that the General Assembly review the existing arrangements covering the planning, programming and budgetary process in order, inter alia, to enhance their role in providing strategic direction; in other words, to shift to results-based budgeting.

The Committee recommended that the General Assembly review the usefulness of the preparation of the report under the agenda item " Review of the efficiency of the administrative and financial functioning of the United Nations " , in accordance with its resolution 45/254A, and decide on the necessity of the further consideration of the report by the General Assembly and the Committee. The Secretary-General, in his report on intergovernmental review of the medium-term plan and the programme budget (A/57/786), recommended that the General Assembly review the functions of the Committee for Programme and Coordination with a view to enhancing its effectiveness in the areas of monitoring and evaluation.
وقد أوصى الأمين العام في تقريره عن الاستعراض الحكومي الدولي للخطة المتوسطة الأجل والميزانية البرنامجية (A/57/786) بأن تستعرض الجمعية العامة وظائف لجنة البرنامج والتنسيق بهدف تعزيز فعاليتها في مجالي الرصد والتقييم.

More recently, in its report to the General Assembly of 26 June 2009, the Working Group recommended that the General Assembly review, at its sixty-fifth session, the basis for its decision in its resolution 3331 (XXIX) B to provide funding to UNRWA for international posts so as to enable the Agency to meet contemporary demands from stakeholders and the Assembly itself (see A/64/115, para. 14 (d)).
وفي الآونة الأخيرة، أوصى الفريق العامل في تقريره إلى الجمعية العامة، المؤرّخ 26حزيران/يونيه 2009، بأن تستعرض الجمعية العامة في دورتها الخامسة والستّين الأساس الذي استندت إليه في قرارها 3331 (د-29) باء بتوفير التمويل للوظائف الدولية للأونروا، حتى تتمكن الوكالة من تلبية المطالب المعاصرة لأصحاب المصلحة والجمعية نفسها (انظر A/64/115، الفقرة 14 (د)).
