As an initiative of the Group of Twenty (G20), the Agricultural Market Information System was launched in September 2011.

AMIS, the High-level Task Force on the Global Food Security Crisis, the Global Agriculture and Food Security Programme and the Zero Hunger Challenge are targeted at the agricultural and food sectors.

Market access must be enhanced, including through sustainable investment in infrastructure, promotion of agricultural industries and technological advancement, and Member States should address the uncertainty of food markets through existing mechanisms including the Agricultural Market Information System.
ويجب فتح الأسواق أكثر، بطرق منها الاستثمار المستدام في البنى الأساسية وتشجيع الصناعات الزراعية والتقدّم التكنولوجي، وينبغي للدول الأعضاء أن تعالج مسألة عدم استقرار أسواق الغذاء من خلال الآليات القائمة، ومنها نظام المعلومات المتعلقة بالأسواق الزراعية.

59. Established at the request of the Group of 20, the Agricultural Market Information System is an inter-agency platform to enhance food market transparency and encourage coordination of policy action in response to market uncertainty.

The AMIS objectives are to: (i) improve Agricultural Market information, analyses and forecasts at both the national and international level; (ii) report on abnormal international market conditions, and strengthen global early warning capacity on these movements; (iii) collect and analyse policy information, promote dialogue and responses, and international policy coordination; and (iv) build statistical capacity in participating countries.

17. Governments, FAO, Agricultural Market Information System (AMIS), GBEP, International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and other international organizations are encouraged to regularly share with CFS the results of their work on biofuels-food security linkages.

As president of the G-20, Mexico had established food security as a priority, with the specific aim of increasing joint public-private investment in agriculture, developing technology to increase productivity, and spurring the Agricultural Market Information System to become more transparent.
