89. The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict noted the full commitment by the Government and concerted efforts towards implementing the provisions of the action plan regarding Children Associated with Armed Forces in Uganda.

(e) Requested the support of the international community in the implementation of the disarmament, demobilization and reintegration programmes and, subsequent to the meeting, took note of the Principles and Guidelines on Children Associated with Armed Forces or Armed Groups (Paris Principles).

Accordingly, Morocco had recently announced its adherence to the Principles and Guidelines on Children Associated with Armed Forces or Armed Groups ( " Paris Commitments " ), which aimed at eliminating the recruitment of children by armed groups or forces.

(i) Ensure that sufficient resources are made available to support programmes for the release, return and reintegration of children associated with armed groups to their respective families and communities, including the programme of the Children Associated with Armed Forces and Armed Groups Working Group, with due consideration to the longer-term requirements of such programmes for children;

Additionally, under the guidance of UNICEF and the Government of France, 95 Member States have to date endorsed the Paris Commitments to protect children from unlawful recruitment or use by armed forces or armed groups and the Principles and Guidelines on Children Associated with Armed Forces or Armed Groups, which were launched in February 2007.

The country task forces on monitoring and reporting continued its onsite visits of Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) facilities to verify the implementation of its recruitment policies and ensure compliance in ending child recruitment and use, in line with the action plan regarding Children Associated with Armed Forces signed between the Government of Uganda and the United Nations in August 2007.

The Department of Peacekeeping Operations continues to work closely with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and other child protection agencies to ensure the early and unconditional release of Children Associated with Armed Forces and groups and has participated in the development of the Principles and Guidelines on Children Associated with Armed Forces or Armed Groups (the Paris Principles).
