Mrs. Aitimova (Kazakhstan): At the outset, I would like to commend the Secretary-General for his report on interreligious and intercultural dialogue, understanding and cooperation for peace (A/62/337), which highlights the activities carried out by the key United Nations entities involved in the field of interreligious and intercultural dialogue.

In this respect, on behalf of my Government, I wish to commend the Secretary-General for his report under the agenda item before us (A/58/392), which, in addition to outlining the work and results of the Fifth Conference, provides an analytical description of the activities carried out by the United Nations system in recent years in the area of assistance to democracy and good governance.
