6.2 With regard to the allegations under article 26 of the Covenant, the State party contests the fact that, according to the author, changing from active duty status is allowed when the change to reserve status took place for reasons of age, not for reasons of illness.

5.2 As to the claims under articles 9, paragraphs 1 and 2, the Committee begins by noting that the author links the alleged arbitrariness of Mr. Thompson's arrest and detention to his presumed innocence.

5.12 As to the claims under articles 17 and 23, paragraph 1, the State party argues, firstly, that " interference " refers to acts that have the result of inevitably separating the family unit.

6.7 In respect of the claims under articles 7 and 10, paragraph 1, related to the author's conditions of detention at St. Catherine District Prison, the Committee notes that they have not been substantiated other than by a general reference to a report prepared by a non-governmental organization in 1990.

6.3 With regard to the allegations under article 22 of the Convention, the Committee notes the complainant's allegation that the emergency assistance system to which he is subject is comparable to a coercive measure which would ultimately induce asylum-seekers to leave Switzerland.
