I. LEGISLATION IN THE FIELD OF tolerance and non-discrimination
أولا - التشريع الخاص بالتسامح وعدم التمييز القائمين على أساس الدين أو المعتقد

In his conclusions and recommendations, the Special Rapporteur considered that the situation in Australia with regard to tolerance and non-discrimination based on religion is generally very satisfactory.
٨١- ورأى المقرر الخاص في استنتاجاته وتوصياته أن الحالة في أستراليا فيما يتعلق بالتسامح وعدم التمييز على أساس الدين حالة مرضية تماما عموما.

9. Recognizes that legislation alone is not enough to prevent violations of human rights, including the right to freedom of religion or belief, and that the exercise of tolerance and non-discrimination by persons and groups is necessary for the full realization of the aims of the Declaration;

During his visit, the Special Rapporteur concentrated particularly on studying legislation in the field of tolerance and non-discrimination based on religion or belief, its implementation and current policies, and on identifying factors conducive to the elimination or maintenance of all forms of intolerance and discrimination based on religion or belief.
٤- وأولى المقرر الخاص، أثناء زيارته، اهتماما خاصا لدراسة التشريع الخاص بالتسامح وعدم التمييز القائمين على أساس الدين أو المعتقد وتطبيق ذلك التشريع وللسياسة السارية وكذلك للتعرف على العوامل التي تفضي إلى القضاء على جميع أشكال التعصب والتمييز القائمين على أساس الدين أو المعتقد أو إلى اﻹبقاء عليها.

On the other, he gains a better grasp of complex situations in the area of religion and belief and/or related areas, as well as information on experiences and positive initiatives with regard to tolerance and non-discrimination on grounds of religion or belief.

In this context, the current situation in the sphere of freedom of religion in China - in relation to legislation concerning tolerance and non-discrimination based on religion or belief, the application of that legislation and the policies currently in force - formed the subjects of careful study during the visit by the Special Rapporteur.

He also introduced a number of training resources available for the network, such as the OSCE TANDIS (tolerance and non-discrimination Information System) website (http://tandis.odihr.pl/).

During his mission, in particular, in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi, the Special Rapporteur gave particular attention to studying legislation in the field of tolerance and non-discrimination on the grounds of religion or belief, its application, and the policy in effect as well as identifying factors for the elimination or continuation of all forms of intolerance and discrimination based on religion or belief.

" Education can make a decisive contribution to the internalization of values based on human rights and to the emergence, both at the individual as well as the group level, of attitudes and behaviour reflecting tolerance and non-discrimination " (A/50/440, para. 36).
