4. Senior Officials meeting on Environmental Cooperation in North-East Asia

4.1 The Meeting of Senior Officials on Environmental Cooperation in North-East Asia will act as the Governing Body for the Programme.
٤-١ سيكون اجتماع كبار المسؤولين المعني بالتعاون البيئي في شمال شرق آسيا بمثابة مجلس اﻹدارة للبرنامج.

An example of a subregional mechanism for that purpose is the Commission on Environmental Cooperation established by members of the North American Free Trade Agreement.

4.3 The Meeting of Senior Officials on Environmental Cooperation in North-East Asia will be held, in principle, annually in the country of one of the Participating Parties, on a rotating basis.

The needs assessments are followed up with capacity-building in areas ranging from the cleanup of hot spots, through the strengthening of environmental governance and the institutions and the development of legislation, up to the promotion of regional and global Environmental Cooperation, and support for environmental information, environmental impact assessment and integrated environmental assessment reporting.
