In that connection, a protest was lodged with the Chargé d'affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Belgrade on 22 January 1999.

2. On 21 February 2008, in the course of the demonstrations encouraged by certain officials, against the declaration of independence of Kosovo, stones and bricks were thrown at the Turkish Embassy in Belgrade and the Embassy building was extensively damaged.

Specifically, countless pharmaceutical plants and the most important health institutions in Belgrade and other cities and towns of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia have been raided and destroyed, whereby the health of the population of the entire country has been directly jeopardized.

The organization also continued its assistance for local television production in Serbia: together with the Soros Foundation, it supported a number of independent production houses to produce documentaries, a series of reports and cultural programmes as well as a training course in documentary filming in the University of Arts in Belgrade.

Following a new postmortem investigation into the complainant's death, on 11 November 2004, the District Court in Sabaca transmitted new information to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Belgrade for an additional examination.

On 28 January, the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia informed the Council that it had sent a note to the Croatian Embassy in Belgrade stating that it was " opposed to a unilateral opening of any border crossing " on the grounds that opening border crossings between neighbouring countries presumed the existence of a joint agreement designating the location and regime of such crossings.

On 25 March 2005, the Committee received information from the Humanitarian Law Centre in Belgrade, to the effect that the First Municipal Court in Belgrade had ordered the State party to pay compensation of 1 million dinars to the complainant's parents for failure to conduct an expedient, impartial and comprehensive investigation into the causes of the complainant's death, in compliance with the decision of the Committee against Torture.

Pursuant to the Committee's request of 18 April 2005 on follow-up measures taken, the State party, by note verbale of 5 August 2005, confirmed that the First Municipal Court in Belgrade by decision of 30 December 2004 found that the complainant's parents should be paid compensation.
