The Subcommittee recommended that the United Nations University be invited to report on its activities relating to capacity-building in space law.
146- وأوصت اللجنة الفرعية بأن تُدعى جامعة الأمم المتحدة إلى تقديم تقرير عن أنشطتها ذات الصلة ببناء القدرات في مجال قانون الفضاء.

At the same meeting, the Director of the Office for Outer Space Affairs made a statement in which she reviewed the role of the Office in discharging the responsibilities of the Secretary-General under the United Nations treaties on outer space, including the maintenance of the Register of Objects Launched into Outer Space, as well as the role and work of the Office relating to capacity-building in space law.

Promoting education in space law is therefore included in the programme to build capacity in space law of the Office for Outer Space Affairs of the Secretariat and is considered at the annual United Nations workshops on space law.

The Subcommittee requested the Office for Outer Space Affairs to prepare a report for the forty-ninth session of the Subcommittee setting out the recommendations relating to capacity-building in space law made to date and the status of their implementation and proposing ways and means of giving practical effect to those recommendations.
144- وطلبت اللجنة الفرعية إلى مكتب شؤون الفضاء الخارجي أن يعدّ تقريرا يقدّم إلى دورتها التاسعة والأربعين يعرض التوصيات المتعلقة ببناء القدرات في مجال قانون الفضاء المقدّمة حتى تاريخه وعن حالة تنفيذها وأن يقترح سبلاً ووسائل ممكنة من أجل التنفيذ الفعّال لتلك التوصيات.

The Committee took note of the discussion of the Subcommittee under the item on capacity-building in space law, as reflected in the report of the Subcommittee (A/AC.105/935, paras. 114-147).
199- أحاطت اللجنة علما بالمناقشة التي دارت في اللجنة الفرعية في إطار البند المتعلق ببناء القدرات في مجال قانون الفضاء حسبما وردت في تقرير اللجنة الفرعية (A/AC.105/935، الفقرات 114-147).

1. At its forty-eighth session, in 2009, the Legal Subcommittee requested the Office for Outer Space Affairs of the Secretariat to prepare a report on the implementation of the recommendations made by the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space relating to capacity-building in space law.
1- طلبت اللجنة الفرعية القانونية، في دورتها الثامنة والأربعين، المعقودة في عام 2009، إلى مكتب شؤون الفضاء الخارجي التابع للأمانة العامة أن يعدّ تقريرا بشأن تنفيذ التوصيات التي أصدرتها لجنة استخدام الفضاء الخارجي في الأغراض السلمية فيما يتعلق ببناء القدرات في مجال قانون الفضاء.

The Committee agreed that the agenda item of the Subcommittee on the general exchange of information on national legislation relevant to the peaceful exploration and use of outer space and the agenda item on capacity-building in space law were closely linked, since capacity-building efforts were important for promoting understanding of national requirements for space activities.
218- واتفقت اللجنة على أن بند جدول أعمال اللجنة الفرعية المتعلق بالتبادل العام للمعلومات عن التشريعات الوطنية المتصلة باستكشاف الفضاء الخارجي واستخدامه في الأغراض السلمية وبند جدول الأعمال المتعلق ببناء القدرات في مجال قانون الفضاء مرتبطان ارتباطا وثيقا، لأن جهود بناء القدرات مهمّة في تعزيز فهم المتطلبات الوطنية بشأن الأنشطة الفضائية.

Some delegations expressed the view that the Office for Outer Space Affairs should deepen and strengthen its programme to build capacity in space law, notwithstanding the expected budgetary cut for the biennium 2010-2011.
143- وأعرب بعض الوفود عن رأي مؤدّاه أن على مكتب شؤون الفضاء الخارجي أن يعمّق ويعزّز برنامجه المتعلق ببناء القدرات في مجال قانون الفضاء بصرف النظر عن الخفض المتوقّع في الميزانية في فترة السنتين 2010-2011.
