The ninth meeting of the Advisory Group on Environmental Emergencies (AGEE) was held in Bern from 18 to 20 May 2011.

104. Information on Environmental Emergencies that may result from poor or inappropriate application of technologies, as well as early warning information aimed at preventing natural and environmental disasters, should be disseminated.
١٠٤ - وينبغي نشر المعلومات المتعلقة بحالات الطوارئ البيئية التي يمكن أن تنجم عن التطبيق السيء أو غير السليم للتكنولوجيات، والمعلومات التحذيرية الرامية إلى اتقاء الكوارث الطبيعية والبيئية.

AGEE meets every two years, bringing together environmental and disaster managers from around the world to share information, experiences and lessons learned to improve prevention, preparedness and response in respect of Environmental Emergencies.

International assistance to countries affected by Environmental Emergencies, based on the agreement between UNEP and the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, is an integral part of the subprogramme.

85. The Environment Unit is developing interface procedures with relevant United Nations agencies and other organizations to strengthen regional and international procedures relating to notification and response to Environmental Emergencies.

At the first meeting of the Environmental Emergencies Advisory Group, held in January, experts from 24 countries commended the work of the Joint UNEP/Department of Humanitarian Affairs Environment Unit, which was established in 1994 and has since carried out a number of emergency assessments of the oil spills in Arctic Russia.
٢٧٢ - وفي الاجتماع اﻷول للفريق الاستشاري المعني بحالات الطوارئ البيئية المعقود في كانون الثاني/يناير، أشاد الخبراء من ٢٤ دولة بعمل وحدة البيئة، المشتركة بين برنامج اﻷمم المتحدة للبيئة وإدارة الشؤون اﻹنسانية، التي أنشئت في عام ١٩٩٤ وقامت منذئذ بإجراء عدد من التقييمات لحالات الطوارئ المتعلقة بانسكاب النفط في المناطق القطبية من روسيا.

(b) Ensuring, taking into account initiatives being undertaken by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and other relevant United Nations bodies, the full implementation of General Assembly resolutions relating to the collection and dissemination of information on Environmental Emergencies that may result from poor or inappropriate application of technologies, and early warning information aimed at avoiding environmental disasters;
