15.12 The Standing Committee on insurance, which met in February 1993, formulated a new work programme for the insurance subprogramme.

Two workshops on insurance have been conducted under the Convention, and issues raised there are relevant in this context.

The representative of Spain, speaking on behalf of the European Union, said that, through its work on insurance and reinsurance, the Standing Committee had contributed to the basic objective of UNCTAD, which was to promote international trade and, through trade, economic development in general and of the developing countries in particular.
٦٣- تحدث ممثل اسبانيا باسم الاتحاد اﻷوروبي فقال إن اللجنة الدائمة قد أسهمت عن طريق أعمالها بشأن التأمين وإعادة التأمين في تحقيق الهدف اﻷساسي لﻷونكتاد ألا وهو النهوض بالتجارة الدولية وكذلك، عن طريق التجارة، بالتنمية الاقتصادية بصورة عامة وبالتنمية الاقتصادية للبلدان النامية بصورة خاصة.

Option 2: Invites Parties and relevant international organizations to include, in their submissions referred to in paragraph 1 above, further views on insurance and risk assessment in the context of decision 5/CP.7, taking into account the outcomes of the workshops referred to in paragraphs 34 and 35 of that decision;

The workshops on insurance and risk assessment in the context of climate change and extreme weather events, and on insurancerelated actions to address the specific needs and concerns of developing country Parties arising from the adverse effects of climate change and from the impact of the implementation of the response measures, were organized back to back in May 2003.
وعقدت في أيار/مايو 2003 حلقة العمل بشأن التأمين وتقيم المخاطر في سياق تغير المناخ والأحوال المناخية القاسية، وحلقة العمل بشأن الإجراءات ذات الصلة بالتأمين من أجل معالجة الاحتياجات والشواغل المحددة للأطراف من البلدان النامية الناشئة عن الآثار السلبية لتغير المناخ وعن تأثير تنفيذ تدابير الاستجابة.

The SBI, at its seventeenth session, considered submissions by Parties on additional terms of reference for the workshops on insurance referred to in paragraphs 34 and 35 of decision 5/CP.7, contained in document FCCC/SBI/2002/MISC.4 and Add.1 - 2.
