2. Decides to defer consideration of and action on Human Rights Council resolution 24/24 of 27 September 2013 on cooperation with the United Nations, its representatives and mechanisms in the field of human rights, in order to allow time for further consultations thereon;

It was emphasized that several mandates included in the biennial programme plan had expired, such as Human Rights Council resolution 22/1, on promoting reconciliation and accountability in Sri Lanka, which had expired in March 2014, and Human Rights Council resolution 24/24 on cooperation with the United Nations, its representatives and mechanisms in the field of human rights, on which action had been deferred by the General Assembly.

Mr. Messone (Gabon), speaking on behalf of the Group of African States, said that the draft resolution was designed to allow further consideration of Human Rights Council resolution 24/24 on cooperation with the United Nations in human rights, which had serious ramifications for the relationship between the Council and the General Assembly, the Committee and other United Nations bodies.
