1. In its resolution 60/138, on the improvement of the situation of women in rural areas, the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General to report on the implementation of the resolution, addressing different aspects of the empowerment of rural women.
1 - طلبت الجمعية العامة إلى الأمين العام في قرارها 60/138، بشأن تحسين حالة المرأة في المناطق الريفية، أن يقدم تقريرا عن تنفيذ هذا القرار، يتناول فيه مختلف أوجه تمكين المرأة الريفية.

Her delegation accordingly supported the recommendations of the Secretary-General on the improvement of the situation of women in rural areas (A/54/123-E/1999/66), particularly with regard to their participation in decision-making.

The Ministers welcomed the adoption of the Resolution 62/136 on improvement of the situation of women in rural areas and recognized the important role played by rural women in their societies and the need to fully implement the relevant provisions of that resolution in order to empower rural women and improve their situation.
359 - ورحب الوزراء بصدور القرار 62/136 بشأن تحسين حالة المرأة في المناطق الريفية وأقروا بالدور الهام الذي تضطلع به المرأة الريفية في مجتمعاتها وبالحاجة إلى التنفيذ الكامل لأحكام القرار ذات الصلة من أجل تمكين النساء الريفيات وتحسين حالتهن.

SADC thus welcomed the report of the Secretary-General on improvement of the situation of women in rural areas (A/62/202) and the recommendations it contained, and called for enhanced political commitment in implementing them.
