Italy shares the objectives enshrined in article VI of the NPT and encourages negotiations in good faith on effective measures relating to cessation of the nuclear arms race at an early date and to nuclear disarmament, and on a treaty on general and complete disarmament under strict and effective international control.
8 - وتؤيد إيطاليا الأهداف الواردة في المادة السادسة من معاهدة عدم الانتشار، وتشجع المفاوضات بحسن نية بشأن تدابير فعالة تتعلق بوقف سباق التسلح مبكرا ونزع السلاح النووي، ووضع معاهدة لنزع السلاح الشامل والكامل بإشراف دولي صارم وفعال.

That is consistent with the solemn obligation undertaken by States parties under article VI of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons to pursue in good faith negotiations on effective measures relating to nuclear disarmament and to engage in a determined pursuit of systematic and progressive efforts to reduce nuclear weapons globally, the ultimate goal being the elimination of those weapons.

Mexico stresses that, given the commitment undertaken by the nuclear-weapon States to destroy their nuclear arsenals, those States have a greater responsibility for submitting information about steps taken to comply with the obligation to pursue negotiations in good faith on effective measures for nuclear disarmament, in accordance with article VI of the Treaty, and with the nuclear disarmament measures agreed upon in 2000.
