We view this project as one of the practical steps towards the implementation of the initiative launched by the President of the Russian Federation, Mr. Putin at the Millennium Summit on energy supply for sustained development of mankind, radical solution to the problems posed by proliferation of nuclear weapons, as well as for a global environmental improvement.

UNIDO would be interested in knowing the Committee's views as to whether type 2 partnerships in the field of energy would promote a functional division of labour among the various actors through the allocation of additional funds and how a stronger intergovernmental consensus on energy for sustainable development could be promoted.

The Africa's Regional Programme on energy for Sustainable Development, drafted and oriented with direct support by the Global Programme, has helped west and east African countries to develop and adopt Regional Energy Access Policies and integrate energy access into PRSPs.
وكان البرنامج الإقليمي لأفريقيا بشأن تسخير الطاقة لأغراض التنمية المستدامة، الذي جرت صياغته وتم توجيهه بدعم مباشر من البرنامج العالمي، قد ساعد بلدان غرب وشرق أفريقيا في وضع واعتماد سياسات إقليمية لتيسير سبل الحصول على الطاقة وإدماج مسألة الحصول عليها في برنامج استراتيجيات الحد من الفقر.

1. Under the terms of the draft decision, the Committee on New and Renewable Sources of Energy and on energy for Development would hold a session in February/March 1995 for 10 days in order to provide advice on energy for rural development to the Commission on Sustainable Development at its third session, as provided for in Agenda 21.
١ - بموجب أحكام مشروع المقرر، ستعقد اللجنة المعنية بمصادر الطاقة الجديدة والمتجددة وتسخير الطاقة ﻷغراض التنمية دورة في شباط/فبراير - آذار/مارس ١٩٩٥، تستغرق ١٠ أيام، لتقديم المشورة إلى لجنة التنمية المستدامة في دورتها الثالثة بشأن تسخير الطاقة ﻷغراض التنمية الريفية حسبما جاء في جدول أعمال القرن ٢١.

It incorporates the country inputs and comments received before and during the regional Arab conference on " Energy for Sustainable Development and Related Environmental Issues " , held in Cairo from 10 to 12 September 2005.
ويتضمن إسهامات البلدان والتعليقات الواردة منها قبل وأثناء المؤتمر العربي الإقليمي بشأن " تسخير الطاقة من أجل التنمية المستدامة والقضايا البيئية ذات الصلة " الذي عُقد في القاهرة في الفترة من 10 إلى 12 أيلول/سبتمبر 2005.

(g) Strengthening and promoting the currently limited regional and international cooperation on energy for sustainable development;

2. The Committee welcomed the opportunity provided by the Economic and Social Council in its decision 1994/309 to hold a special session in order to provide advice on energy for rural development to the Commission on Sustainable Development at its third session (11-28 April 1995).
٢ - رحبت اللجنة بالفرصة التي أتاحها المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي في مقرره ١٩٩٤/٣٠٩ لعقد دورة استثنائية لتقديم المشورة بشأن تسخير الطاقة ﻷغراض التنمية الريفية إلى اللجنة المعنية بالتنمية المستدامة في دورتها الثالثة )١١-٢٨ نيسان/أبريل ١٩٩٥(.

In accordance with Economic and Social Council decision 1994/309, the Committee is to provide advice on energy for rural development to the Commission on Sustainable Development when the Commission considers chapter 14 of Agenda 21 (Promoting sustainable agriculture and rural development).
وفقا لمقرر المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي ١٩٩٤/٣٠٩، تسدي اللجنة المشورة بشأن تسخير الطاقة ﻷغــراض التنمية الريفيــة إلى لجنة التنمية المستدامة لدى نظر اللجنة في الفصل ١٤ من جدول أعمال القرن ٢١ )النهوض بالزراعة والتنمية الريفية المستدامة(.

In accordance with Council decision 1994/309, the report of the special session of the Committee, in particular the conclusions and recommendations, will contain advice for the Commission on Sustainable Development on energy for rural development (programme area K of chapter 14 of Agenda 21).
