Particularly concerned, in the context of practices which are contrary to human dignity, at recently disclosed information on the research being conducted with a view to the reproductive cloning of human beings,

2. The creation of human embryos for research purposes is prohibited.

From the philosophical and moral points of view, the technique, based as it was on the creation of human embryos for experimental purposes and their eventual destruction, ran counter to the most elementary standards of human rights law.
