II. Establishment of the United Nations Advance Mission in the Sudan

In this framework, the Council was briefed by Jan Pronk, Special Representative of the Secretary-General and head of the United Nations Advance Mission in the Sudan.

1. By its resolution 717 (1991) of 16 October 1991, the Security Council decided to establish a United Nations Advance Mission in Cambodia (UNAMIC) immediately after signing of the Agreements on a Comprehensive Political Settlement of the Cambodia Conflict.
١ - قرر مجلس اﻷمن، في قراره ٧١٧ )١٩٩١( المؤرخ ١٦ تشرين اﻷول/أكتوبر ١٩٩١، أن ينشئ بعثة اﻷمم المتحدة المتقدمة في كمبوديا فور توقيع الاتفاقات المتعلقة بإيجاد تسوية سياسية شاملة للنزاع في كمبوديا.

In addition, it held meetings with the United Nations Advance Mission in the Sudan (UNAMIS) and other United Nations representatives in the country.

While not underestimating the importance of compliance with the ceasefire agreement, security issues should be addressed by the AU Ceasefire Commission and the Joint Commission could, through their cooperation and sharing of information with the United Nations Advance Mission in the Sudan, bring infractions to the attention of the Security Council, as needed.

26. Also in February, the Advisory Committee concurred in the Secretary-General's request for commitment authority up to $10 million prior to the approval of the budget for the expansion of the United Nations Advance Mission in Cambodia (UNAMIC).
٦٢ - وفي شباط/فبراير أيضا، وافقت اللجنة الاستشارية على طلب اﻷمين العام تفويضا بالالتزام بمبلغ يصل إلى ٠١ ملايين دولار قبل الموافقة على الميزانية المتعلقة بتوسيع بعثة اﻷمم المتحدة المتقدمة في كمبوديا.

In the Sudan, the need for a small advance element was met by the Standby Forces High Readiness Brigade, which deployed at the request of the United Nations as part of the advance mission in the Sudan in June and July 2004.
