As indicated in paragraph 4 of the report, the General Assembly, at its sixty-fourth session, having considered the report of the Secretary-General on the provisional Staff Rules promulgated in July 2009, decided that the Staff Rules should remain provisional pending their further consideration at its sixty-fifth session.

Hence, a total amount of $48.5 million net was appropriated to the Tribunal for 1997.

At its sixty-fourth session, the General Assembly, having considered the report of the Secretary-General on the provisional Staff Rules (A/64/230), decided that the Staff Rules should remain provisional pending their further consideration at its sixty-fifth session (decision 64/546).

In its resolution 1995/79, the Commission on Human Rights, having considered the report of the Special Rapporteur submitted to the General Assembly at its forty-ninth session, decided to renew the mandate of the newly appointed Special Rapporteur (Mrs. Ofelia Calcetas-Santos, Philippines) for a further three years and invited her, inter alia, to cooperate closely with the Working Group on Contemporary Forms of Slavery.

On 17 December 1998, the General Assembly, having considered the report of the Secretary-General on renewing the United Nations: a programme for reform (A/51/950 and Add.1–7), and the note by the Secretary-General on a Millennium Assembly, the United Nations system (Special Commission) and a Millennium Forum (A/52/850), adopted resolution 53/202 on the Millennium Assembly of the United Nations.

3. At its fifty-first session, by its resolution 1995/70 the Commission on Human Rights, after considering the report of the Special Rapporteur, Mr. Marco Tulio Bruni Celli (E/CN.4/1995/59) requested the Secretary-General to appoint an independent expert.
