SADC welcomed the various initiatives in the development of emergency preparedness and response, and commended the work done by the Central Organ of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) Mechanism for Conflict Prevention, Management and Resolution, whose mandate was to find practical solutions to the various conflict situations in Africa.
