27. In accordance with the established practice under the procedure governed by ECOSOC Resolution 1503 (XLVIII) of 27 May 1970 as revised by ECOSOC resolution 2000/3 of 19 June 2000, the action taken in respect of a particular situation should be one of the following options:

6.2 As far as the examination of the matter by another procedure of international investigation or settlement is concerned, the Committee takes note of the State party's claim that the case was referred to the Commission on Human Rights under the procedure established by Economic and Social Council resolution 1503 (XLVIII) of 27 May 1970.

6.2 As far as the examination of the matter by another procedure of international investigation or settlement is concerned, the Committee takes note of the State party's claim that the case was referred to the Commission on Human Rights under the procedure established by Economic and Social Council resolution 1503 (XLVIII) of 27 May 1970.

439. In cases Nos. 719/1996 (Conroy Levy v. Jamaica) and 720/1996 (Morgan and Williams v. Jamaica), the question was raised whether the reclassification of the complainants' offence as capital murder, by a single judge under the procedure established by the Offences against the Persons (Amendment) Act 1992, violated article 14 because the procedural safeguards of article 14 were not guaranteed (no representation, no public hearing).

Following established practice, the President of the Council will announce in a public meeting the countries that have been examined under the procedure governed by Economic and Social Council resolutions 1503 (XLVIII) and 2000/3, as well as the countries no longer being dealt with under the procedure; otherwise, all actions taken under the 1503 procedure remain confidential until the Council decides otherwise.
