Building African Capacity and enhancing cooperation

In February 2007, ECA collaborated with the NEPAD secretariat and the African Capacity-Building Foundation in organizing a meeting on the development of a capacity-building strategy for Africa.

Following the meeting of the representatives of AUC, AfDB, ECA, and the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) held in Tunis, Tunisia in September 2007, to discuss coordination of statistical capacity-building work in Africa, it was decided that the African Statistical Coordination Committee (ASCC) should be established to coordinate statistical activities in Africa.

These larger programmes started to work in 11 countries and three regions in the Programme for Building African Capacity for Trade, the Enhancing Arab Capacity for Trade and the Netherlands Trust Fund programmes.
