9. The cooperation item and its sub-items shall read as follows:

The General Committee took note of paragraph 7 of the annex to General Assembly resolution 55/285, in which the Assembly decided that a joint debate should be held on the cooperation item, during which all or some aspects of cooperation between the United Nations and regional and other organizations might be addressed.

The Secretary-General further wishes to recall paragraph 7 of the annex to resolution 55/285, in which the General Assembly decided that a joint debate should be held on the cooperation item, during which all or some aspects of cooperation between the United Nations and regional and other organizations might be addressed.
11 - ويود الأمين العام كذلك أن يشير إلى الفقرة 7 من مرفق القرار 55/285 الذي قررت فيه الجمعية العامة عقد مناقشة مشتركة بشأن بند التعاون يجوز خلالها تناول بعض أو جميع جوانب التعاون بين الأمم المتحدة والمنظمات الإقليمية والمنظمات الأخرى.

11. At the intergovernmental level, the Executive Secretaries were of the view that the regional cooperation item considered by the Economic and Social Council at its general segment should be considered at a separate segment on regional cooperation, devoted to the interface between the regional commissions and the Council.
11 - وعلى المستوى الحكومي الدولي، رأى الأمناء التنفيذيون أن بند التعاون الإقليمي الذي نظر فيه المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي في سياق الجزء العام من دورته ينبغي أن يُنظر فيه ضمن جزء منفصل خاص بالتعاون الإقليمي، يكرس لدراسة حلقة الوصل بين اللجان الإقليمية والمجلس.

In this connection, the Economic and Social Council endorsed the recommendation of the Executive Secretaries that the topic for the regional cooperation item at its substantive session of 2003 should be: " Development dimensions of trade negotiations: a regional perspective " .

In addition, in response to Council decision 2004/213 of 13 February 2004, the report explores, in section IV, the theme for the regional cooperation item at the Council's substantive session of 2004, which is " Information technology for development: a regional perspective " .

During the formal consideration of the regional cooperation item by the Council, Member States often raise questions on the economic and social situation in the regions and on the policy advice contained in the summaries of the regional surveys on emerging and/or persistent development issues and how the regional perspectives contribute to the global dialogue on the related issues.
