512. Article 14, paragraph 3 (d), provides that an accused has the right to defend himself in person or through legal counsel of his own choosing.

During the trial, and as required by the Constitution, the defendant has the right to hear and crossexamine witnesses for the prosecution, normally through a lawyer.

In that case, the person shall be represented by counsel where the Pre-Trial Chamber determines that it is in the interests of justice.
