Ms. Mesquita Pessôa (Brazil) said that as a staunch supporter of UNRWA activities, Brazil had contributed to the Agency in recent years; it had made special contributions in 2010 for the reconstruction of the Nahr el-Bared refugee camp and also for the development of specifically targeted food-security projects.

At the same meeting, the Co-Chair, Park In-kook (Republic of Korea), informed the Committee that María Teresa Mesquita Pessôa (Brazil) would serve as ex officio member of the Bureau of the Preparatory Committee, on behalf of the host country of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in 2012.
