On the basis of that General Assembly resolution, as well as other resolutions of the General Assembly and the Security Council, it is evident that the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia should, as a new State, apply for membership of the United Nations in accordance with the established procedures regarding the admission of new Members to the United Nations.
وعلى أساس قرار الجمعية العامة ذلك، وسائـــر القرارات التي اتخذتها الجمعية العامة ومجلس اﻷمن، من الواضح أن جمهورية يوغوسلافيا الاتحادية عليها، كدولة جديدة، أن تتقدم بطلب للعضوية في اﻷمم المتحدة وفقا لﻹجراءات المتبعة بشأن قبول أعضاء جدد فـــي اﻷمـــم المتحدة.

In its resolution 777 (1992), the Security Council stated that the State formerly known as the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia had ceased to exist, and that the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro) had to apply for membership in the United Nations.
وقد ذكر مجلس اﻷمن في قراره ٧٧٧ )١٩٩٢( أن الدولة التي كانت تعرف سابقا باسم جمهورية يوغوسلافيا الاتحادية الاشتراكية لم تعد قائمة، وأن على جمهورية يوغوسلافيا الاتحادية )صربيا والجبل اﻷسود( أن تتقدم بطلب للعضوية في اﻷمم المتحدة.

It is worth recalling, that Security Council resolution 777 (1992) stated that the State formerly known as the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia had ceased to exist and that the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro) had to apply for membership in the United Nations.
وتجدر اﻹشارة إلى أن قرار مجلس اﻷمن ٧٧٧ )١٩٩٢( ذكر أن الدولة المعروفة سابقا باسم جمهورية يوغوسلافيا الاتحادية الاشتراكية لم يعد لها وجود وأن جمهورية يوغوسلافيا الاتحادية )صربيا والجبل اﻷسود( يجب أن تتقدم بطلب للعضوية في اﻷمم المتحدة.

This is to say that the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro) is not the continuation of the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and, therefore, it is not a Member of the United Nations and further that, in order to become a Member State, the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro) must apply for membership.

In these circumstances, the Council considered that " the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro) cannot continue automatically the membership of the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in the United Nations " , and it recommended to the General Assembly that " it decide that the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro) should apply for membership in the United Nations " .
