The Committee had also elaborated the 1994 Declaration on measures to eliminate international terrorism. That Declaration, together with the supplementary Declaration of 1996, set out in a comprehensive and balanced manner the fundamental principles that should be respected by the international community in its fight against the scourge of terrorism.

67 - وأوضح ضرورة أن تتصدى تدابير القضاء على الإرهاب الدولي للأخطار المنطوية على استخدام المرتزقة من أجل تحقيق أهداف سياسية قائلا أن الملديف عانت من تجربة مريرة في هذا المضمار ومعربا عن الأسف لأنه بعد ما يقرب من عقد من فتح باب التوقيع على الاتفاقية الدولية لمنع تجنيد المرتزقة واستخدامهم وتمويلهم وتدريبهم فإن الاتفاقية لم تدخل بعد حيّز النفاذ.
