78. It was essential to maintain regular consultations between the Security Council and troop-contributing countries in order to facilitate the operation of the Mission.

8. As indicated in annex I to the report of the Secretary-General of 1 April 1998 (A/52/854), the General Assembly appropriated the total amount of $56,105,000 gross ($53,708,600 net) for the operation of UNSMIH for the period from 1 July 1996 to 30 June 1997.

20. The Advisory Committee trusts that, as UNMIS has moved into the second year of implementation of its mandate, the budget assumptions will be improved to reflect lessons learned from the operation of the Mission.

35. As far as the request for $1.87 million for 115 United Nations Volunteers was concerned, those Volunteers were needed to ensure the effective operation of the Mission.

While recognizing the utility of such staff loans, care should be taken to ensure that they do not have a negative impact on the operation of the Mission (see para. 19 below).

The assessment of the amount of $12,374,100 gross ($11,135,700 net) covering the operation of ONUSAL for the period from 1 June to 30 November 1994;

86. At this stage, it is therefore requested that resources in the amount of $209,965,600 gross ($204,788,900 net) be provided under commitment authority with assessment and arrangements pursuant to the provisions of General Assembly resolution 49/233 A, to cover requirements for the maintenance of MONUC for the six-month period from 1 July to 31 December 2001 (see the summary statement in section V.A below).
86 - لذلك، فالمطلوب في المرحلة الراهنة هـو توفير موارد بمبلغ إجماليه 600 956 209 دولار (صافيه 900 788 204 دولار) بموجب سلطة الدخول في التزام مع تحديد الأنصبة والترتيبات عملا بأحكام قرار الجمعية العامة 49/233 ألف، لتغطية الاحتياجات اللازمة لمواصلة تشغيل البعثة لفترة الستة أشهر الممتدة من 1 تموز/يوليه إلى 31 كانون الأول/ ديسمبر 2001 (انظر البيان الموجز (الجزء الخامس - ألف أدناه)).

Since the operating budget of MINUSTAH does not envisage extensive support for large-scale engineering projects, alternative financing options in support of such projects are currently being explored.
