6. On 12 August 2005, Chen Guangcheng and Yuan Weijing were put under de facto house arrest.

8. On 25 August 2005, Chen Guangcheng evaded the police surrounding his village and went to Shanghai and Nanjing, then to Beijing, to seek help from lawyers.
