3. The following trends appear discernible from an analysis of the comments and observations of Governments in their written responses and in statements in the Sixth Committee on the draft principles:

By the terms of the draft resolution, the General Assembly would, among other things, take note with appreciation of the report of the International Law Commission on the work of its fifty-fifth session and recommend that the Commission continue its work on the topics in its current programme, taking into account comments and observations of Governments.

4. For its consideration of the item, the Committee had before it a report of the Secretary-General containing comments and observations of Governments on the draft articles on the law of transboundary aquifers (A/66/116 and Add.1).
