Before the adoption of the outcome by the plenary of the Council in June 2008, Ecuador will be ready to present voluntary commitments and pledges based on its report to the Working Group, taking into account the content of the interactive dialogue and following a wide process of internal consultations.

The delegation of Uruguay, which, like many other delegations, played a very active role in the negotiating process that culminated in the establishment of the Human Rights Council, supported the inclusion of " voluntary pledges and commitments " by candidates for membership in the Council, on the understanding that they represented a means of fostering compromise.
وعلى غرار الكثير من الوفود الأخرى، نهض وفد أوروغواي بدور بالغ الإيجابية في عملية التفاوض التي توجت بإنشاء مجلس حقوق الإنسان، ودافع عن إدراج " تعهدات والتزامات طوعية " من جانب المرشحين لعضوية المجلس على أساس أن هذا ضرب طوعي من ضروب تعزيز الالتزام.

In accordance with General Assembly resolution 60/251, an aide-memoire on Ghana's achievements, voluntary pledges and commitments towards the universal promotion and protection of human rights is attached (see annex).

The EU now encourages Libya to ensure the full promotion and protection of human rights and to consider making voluntary pledges and commitments in that respect, in the spirit of paragraphs 8 and 9 of resolution 60/251 and in keeping with the obligations stemming from Human Rights Council membership.
