In paragraph 6 of its resolution 62/48, the General Assembly invited Member States to provide the Secretary-General with information regarding measures and efforts to devote part of the resources made available by the implementation of disarmament and arms limitation agreements to economic and social development.

In paragraph 6 of the resolution, the General Assembly reiterated its invitation to Member States to provide the Secretary-General with information regarding measures and efforts to devote part of the resources made available by the implementation of disarmament and arms limitation agreements to economic and social development.

(b) To provide the Secretary-General with information relating to the use of capital punishment and the observance of the safeguards guaranteeing protection of the rights of those facing the death penalty;

10. Mr. Degia (Barbados), introducing the amendment to draft resolution A/C.3/62/L.29 contained in document A/C.3/62/L.79, said that it was unclear why Governments were being asked, under paragraph 2 (b), to provide the Secretary-General with information on the use of capital punishment.
