The report of the Secretary-General on assistance to refugees, returnees and displaced persons in Africa (A/51/367) stated that 9,145,400 of that total were Africans.

In the report of the Secretary-General on assistance in mine clearance (A/49/357 and Add.1) it is estimated that there are more than 110 million land-mines spread in 64 countries around the world, and that between 2 million and 5 million more are being laid each year.
وفي تقرير اﻷمين العام بشأن تقديم المساعدة في إزالة اﻷلغام )A/49/357 و Add.1(، من المقدر أن هناك أكثر من ١١٠ من ملايين اﻷلغام البرية منتشرة في ٦٤ بلدا في أنحاء العالم، وأن ما بين مليونين وخمسة ملايين أخرى من اﻷلغام تبث كل عام.

2. The Assembly also appealed to the international community and intergovernmental organizations to provide adequate assistance to programmes identified in the report of the Secretary-General on assistance for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Liberia (A/49/466), including the preparation of a new appeal for humanitarian assistance to cover emergency assistance needs and to support the peace process.
٢ - وناشدت الجمعية العامة أيضا المجتمع الدولي والمنظمات الحكومية الدولية تقديم مساعدة كافية للبرامج المحددة في تقرير اﻷمين العام بشأن تقديم المساعدة من أجل إنعاش ليبريا وتعميرها (A/49/466) بما في ذلك إعداد نداء جديد لتقديم المساعدة اﻹنسانية من أجل تغطية الاحتياجات المتصلة بمساعدة الطوارئ ودعم عملية السلم.
