The Executive Director of the Programme was appointed with effect from 1 March 1991, with the exclusive responsibility for coordinating and providing effective leadership for all United Nations drug control activities, in order to ensure coherence of actions within the Programme as well as coordination, complementarity and non-duplication of such activities across the United Nations system.
واعتبارا من ١ آذار/مارس ١٩٩١ عين للبرنامج مدير تنفيذي أنيطت به المسؤولية محددة عن تنسيق جميع أنشطة مراقبة المخدرات في اﻷمم المتحدة وتتويجها بقيادة فعالة، ضمانا لتماسك اﻹجراءات التي تتخذ في إطار البرنامج، وكفالة لتناسق أنشطة مراقبة المخدرات التي يضطلع بها في سائر أنحاء منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة وتأكيد تكاملها وعدم ازدواجيتها.

2. Reaffirms the role of the Executive Director of the United Nations International Drug Control Programme in coordinating and providing effective leadership for all United Nations drug control activities so as to increase cost-effectiveness and ensure coherence of action within the Programme as well as coordination, complementarity and non-duplication of such activities across the United Nations system;
