Indigenous women suffered from multiple discrimination, within their own communities as well as within the larger society.

Mr. Kaukoranta (Finland), speaking on behalf of the Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden), said that the Nordic countries had repeatedly expressed a preference for the development of a set of principles covering all relevant rules pertaining to the expulsion of aliens, rather than draft articles codifying customary law to fill gaps in existing treaty law.

Mr. Winkler (Denmark), speaking on behalf of the Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden), said that the Nordic countries remained unconvinced of the usefulness of the Commission's efforts to identify general rules of international law on the expulsion of aliens, since it was an area of law covered by detailed regional rules.
