74. The Committee noted the contributions made by other international organizations towards the implementation of the recommendations of UNISPACE 82.

110. The view was expressed that the Office for Outer Space Affairs should identify financial resources for implementation of the recommendations of UNISPACE III in the area of disaster management.

27. In addition to the technical conclusions, it was recommended that the United Nations/IAF series of workshops should be used as an important instrument in implementing the recommendations of UNISPACE III. The planning of workshops should be a more continuous process, with the active involvement of all key players, and be undertaken on a more solid funding base.
٧٢- وعلاوة على هذه الاستنتاجات التقنية، أوصى باستخدام سلسلة حلقات العمل المشتركة بين اﻷمم المتحدة واﻹياف كأداة مهمة في تنفيذ توصيات مؤتمر اليونيسبيس الثالث. كما ينبغي أن يكون تخطيط حلقات العمل عملية أكثر استمرارية، وبمشاركة فعالة من جميع اﻷطراف الرئيسية، وأن تستند الى أساس تمويلي أكثر متانة.

55. The Committee also expressed its appreciation to the Government of China for providing two long-term fellowships to developing countries for 1998–1999 on photogrammetry and remote sensing, geodesy and cartography, as a contribution to the United Nations Programme on Space Applications and to the implementation of the recommendations of UNISPACE 82.
٥٥ - وأعربت اللجنة أيضا عن تقديرها لحكومة الصين لتقديم زمالتين طويلتي اﻷمد للبلدان النامية، لعامي ٨٩٩١ - ٩٩٩١ في مجالات المسح التصويري والاستشعار من بعد، والجيوديسيا ورسم الخرائط، كمساهمة في برنامج اﻷمم المتحدة للتطبيقات الفضائية وفي تنفيذ توصيات مؤتمر اليونيسبيس - ٢٨.

4. The European Union approved the method for establishing priorities within the recommendations of UNISPACE III. The action teams under the voluntary leadership of Member States had proved to be an effective mechanism for initiating implementation; that work was very important and should continue.
4 - وأردف قائلا إن الاتحاد الأوروبي يوافق على الطريقة المتعلقة بتحديد الأولويات في إطار توصيات مؤتمر اليونيسبيس الثالث. وقد ثبت أن أفرقة العمل تحت القيادة الطوعية للدول الأعضاء تمثل آلية فعالة لبدء التنفيذ؛ وهذا العمل هام جدا وينبغي أن يستمر.

The view was expressed that since the Committee had, in practice, completed the implementation of the recommendations of UNISPACE III, consideration should be given to holding a fourth United Nations conference on the exploration and peaceful uses of outer space in the near future, and that the new multilateral framework that would eventually emerge from Rio+20 would create even more favourable conditions for such an initiative.
322- وأعرب عن رأي مفاده أنه بما أنَّ اللجنة قد انتهت عمليا من تنفيذ توصيات مؤتمر اليونيسبيس الثالث، فينبغي النظر في عقد مؤتمر الأمم المتحدة الرابع المعني باستكشاف الفضاء الخارجي واستخدامه في الأغراض السلمية في وقت ما في المستقبل القريب، وأنَّ الإطار المتعدّد الأطراف الجديد الذي سينبثق في نهاية المطاف عن مؤتمر ريو +20 سيهيِّئ ظروفاً مواتية أكثر لهذه المبادرة.

80. The Subcommittee agreed that it should review the structure of its agenda taking into account the recommendations of UNISPACE III and that that task could be accomplished under its agenda item entitled “Other matters”.

Paragraph 11 dealt with the measures which the Office for Outer Space Affairs would have to take to implement the recommendations of UNISPACE III. In paragraphs 12 and 15 the Secretary-General was requested to ensure the widespread dissemination of the results of UNISPACE III and to report to the General Assembly at its fifty-fifth session on the implementation of the Conference’s recommendations.
