I. Introduction 1. With the adoption of resolution 68/191, entitled " Taking action against gender-related killing of women and girls " , the General Assembly expressed its deep concern for the alarming proportion of different manifestations of gender-related killing of women and girls and for their high level of impunity and urged Member States to exercise due diligence to address acts of violence against women.
1- باعتماد القرار 68/191، المعنون " التصدِّي لجرائم قتل النساء والفتيات بدافع جنساني " ، أعربت الجمعية العامة عن قلقها العميق إزاء ارتفاع نسبة مختلف مظاهر جرائم قتل النساء والفتيات بدافع جنساني() على نحو مثير للجزع وارتفاع مستوى إفلات مرتكبي هذه الجرائم من العقاب، وحثَّت الدول الأعضاء على توخِّي الحرص الواجب على التصدِّي لأعمال العنف ضد النساء.

It urged Member States to consider undertaking institutional initiatives to improve the prevention of gender-related killings of women and girls and the provision of legal protection, including appropriate remedies, reparation and compensation, to victims of such crimes, in accordance with applicable national and international law.
وحثت الدول الأعضاء على النظر في اتخاذ مبادرات مؤسسية لتحسين تدابير منع جرائم قتل النساء والفتيات بدافع جنساني وتوفير الحماية القانونية لضحايا هذه الجرائم، بما في ذلك سبل الانتصاف والجبر والتعويض الملائمة، وفقا للقوانين الوطنية والدولية المنطبقة.

The Assembly requested the Secretary-General to convene an open-ended intergovernmental expert group meeting to discuss ways and means to more effectively prevent, investigate, prosecute and punish gender-related killings of women and girls, with a view to making practical recommendations, drawing also on current best practices, in consultation with relevant United Nations entities and human rights mechanisms.
وطلبت الجمعية إلى الأمين العام أن يدعو إلى عقد اجتماع لفريق الخبراء الحكومي الدولي المفتوح باب العضوية لمناقشة سبل ووسائل منع جرائم قتل النساء والفتيات بدافع جنساني والتحقيق فيها ومقاضاة مرتكبيها ومعاقبتهم على نحو أكثر فعالية، بهدف تقديم توصيات عملية في هذا الشأن، مع الاستفادة أيضا من أفضل الممارسات الحالية، وذلك بالتشاور مع كيانات الأمم المتحدة المعنية وآليات حقوق الإنسان.
