39. The Special Rapporteur noted, both on the island of Bioko and in the mainland region of Río Muni, the existence of military roadblocks which substantially limit the rights recognized in article 12 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

78. According to data supplied by the President of the House of Representatives of the People, the commonest disease continues to be malaria, which is endemic throughout the country but takes on more malignant forms on the island of Bioko.

7. The mission travelled to the island of Bioko and made contact with the local authorities and members of civil and political society, particularly in the capital city of Malabo.

4. Despite time constraints, the mission visited the various villages on the island of Bioko most affected by the events of 21 January and the days which followed, and made personal contact with the villagers, with no authorities present.

(a) The January incidents were strictly confined to the island of Bioko and had no repercussions on the rest of the territory of Equatorial Guinea;

56. The Special Rapporteur reported earlier on a situation involving discrimination against persons belonging to the Bubi ethnic group on the island of Bioko and the inhabitants of the island of Annobón.
٦٥- كان المقرر الخاص قد ذكر في تقرير سابق حالة تمييز ضد اﻷشخاص المنتمين إلى جماعة بوبي اﻹثنية في جزيرة بيوكو وكذلك ضد السكان اﻷصليين في جزيرة أنوبون.

On 14 March he sent the Minister of Justice a letter requesting information on the reasons for the transfer of 41 detainees belonging to the Bubi ethnic group from their prison on the island of Bioko to a prison on the continent, far from their families.
وفي 14 آذار/مارس بعث برسالة إلى وزير العدل طالبا معلومات بخصوص أسباب نقل 41 سجينا ينتمون إلى مجموعة البوبي العرقية من سجنهم في جزيرة بيوكو إلى سجن في الداخل، بعيدا عن عائلاتهم.

EPIBIB noted that the Bubi people of Bioko island were discriminated against when it came to protecting biodiversity and the environment and recommended respecting the protected nature reserve areas.
كما أكد شعب بوبي الأصلي في جزيرة بيوكو التمييز ضده عند حماية التنوع البيولوجي والبيئة، وأوصى باحترام المناطق المحمية بوصفها محمياتٍ طبيعية(170).

59. EPIBIB expressed the wish that the Bubi people be able to speak of their right to self-determination on that account being detained, tortured or murdered and recommended that all Bubis from Bioko island who had had to flee the country, including those expelled by the Government, should be allowed to return freely.
59- وأعرب شعب بوبي الأصلي في جزيرة بيوكو عن رغبته في إمكانية الحديث عن حقه في تقرير المصير دون أن يُحتجز أفراده ويُعذبوا ويُقتلوا لهذا السبب(164)، وأوصى بالسماح لجميع أفراده الذين اضطروا إلى الفرار من البلد بالعودة إليه طُلقاء، بمن فيهم الذين طردتهم الحكومة(165).

63. EPIBIB stated that the three protected nature reserve areas on Bioko island, which were home to animal species that were not found anywhere else in the world, were being plundered despite the fact that the Government had signed treaties on the protection of biodiversity and the environment.
63- أكد شعب بوبي الأصلي في جزيرة بيوكو تعرض المناطق الثلاث المحمية باعتبارها محمياتٍ طبيعية في جزيرة بيوكو والتي تؤوي حيواناتٍ فريدة من نوعها في العالم للنهب، رغم توقيع الحكومة على معاهدات بشأن حماية التنوع البيولوجي والبيئة(169).

With regard to the Bubis, it should be noted that the victims of the abuses are actual or alleged members of or simply sympathize with the Movimiento para la Autodeterminación de la Isla de Bioko (MAIB).
