Another positive development had been the adoption of General Assembly resolution 51/218 E, which provided for a system of self-insurance and the establishment of uniform and standardized rates for the payment of awards in cases of death or disability sustained by troops in the service of the United Nations peacekeeping operations.

154. By resolution 51/218 E of 17 June 1997, the General Assembly adopted a new methodology for reimbursement of death and disability claims, which established self-insurance and uniform standardized rates for the payment of awards in cases of death or disability sustained by troops in the service of the United Nations peacekeeping operations after 30 June 1997.
٤٥١- اعتمدت الجمعية العامة بموجب قرارها ١٥/٨٢١ هاء المؤرخ ٧١ حزيران/يونيه ٧٩٩١ منهجية جديدة لدفع المطالبات في حالة الوفاة أو العجز أنشئ بموجبها نظام للتأمين الذاتي وحددت معدلات نموذجية لدفع مبالغ نقدية في حالات الوفاة أو العجز التي يتعرض لها الجنود المشاركون في عمليات اﻷمم المتحدة لحفظ السلام، بعد ٠٣ حزيران/يونيه ٧٩٩١.

(a) To approve the application of the methodology and reimbursement rates followed to settle contingent/formed police unit death or disability claims in cases related to the death or disability of military observers/civilian police officers/other seconded uniformed personnel in peacekeeping missions;
