24. Mr. Decaux explained that such an examination would allow for a structured, serious dialogue with Member States on the status of ratification of all relevant instruments and that it would be useful to be able to refer to a table showing the status of ratifications and then compile information on how States were meeting their international obligations through national legislation and to identify the obstacles to ratification.

At its twentieth session, in 1965, the General Assembly adopted the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination and requested the Secretary-General to submit to it reports concerning the state of ratifications of the Convention, which would be considered by the Assembly at its future sessions (resolution 2106 A (XX)).
