The Children's Act, No. 8 of 2001 on its part provides for the protection of the Rights and Welfare of the Child in which special emphasis is placed on the girl child and children with disabilities.
وينص قانون الطفل رقم 8 لعام 2001 من جانبه على حماية حقوق ورفاه الطفل ويتم التركيز بشكل خاص على الفتيات الصغيرات والأطفال ذوي الإعاقة.

The Committee also notes that the State party is one of the seven African countries that has so far ratified the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child.

Finally, the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights (1981) provides that every individual shall have the right to education, and the African Charter on Rights and Welfare of the Child provides in article 11 that every child should have the right to education.

The African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child prohibits the recruitment of children by armed forces and groups, and specifically identifies the need to respect international humanitarian law with regard to children during armed conflicts.

7. Through the financial assistance of the European Union (EU) and the technical assistance of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), Lesotho has enacted a Children's Protection and Welfare Act (CPWA) 2011 which domesticates the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child.
7- وبفضل المساعدة المالية التي يقدمها الاتحاد الأوروبي والمساعدة التقنية التي تقدمها منظمة الأمم المتحدة للطفولة (اليونيسيف)، سنّت ليسوتو قانون حماية الطفل ورفاهه في عام 2011 الذي أُدرجت من خلاله أحكام اتفاقية الأمم المتحدة لحقوق الطفل والميثاق الأفريقي بشأن حقوق ورفاه الطفل في التشريعات الوطنية.

Regarding regional conventions on human rights, Sierra Leone is a party to the 1981 African [Banjul] Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights since 21 September 1983, to the 1969 OAU Convention Governing the Specific Aspects of Refugee Problems in Africa since 28 December 1987 and to the 1990 African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child since 13 May 2002.
66- فيما يتعلق بالاتفاقيات الإقليمية المتعلقة بحقوق الإنسان، فإن سيراليون طرف في الميثاق الأفريقي [بانجول] لحقوق الإنسان وحقوق الشعوب منذ 21 أيلول/سبتمبر 1983، وفي اتفاقية منظمة الوحدة الأفريقية لعام 1969 التي تحكم الجوانب المحددة لمشاكل اللاجئين في أفريقيا وذلك منذ 28 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 1987، وفي الميثاق الأفريقي لعام 1990 بشأن حقوق ورفاه الطفل منذ 13 أيار/مايو 2002.

64. The Committee recommends that the State party ratify the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child and cooperate with the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child of the African Union towards implementing the Convention on the Rights of the Child and other human rights instruments, both in the State party and in other African Union member States.
64- توصي اللجنة بأن تصدق الدولة الطرف على الميثاق الأفريقي بشأن حقوق ورفاه الطفل وأن تتعاون مع لجنة الخبراء الأفريقية المعنية بحقوق الطفل ورفاهه، التابعة للاتحاد الأفريقي، من أجل تنفيذ اتفاقية حقوق الطفل وغيرها من صكوك حقوق الإنسان في الدولة الطرف وفي غيرها من الدول الأفريقية الأعضاء في الاتحاد الأفريقي.

The 1999 ILO Convention (No. 182) on the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour prohibits the forced or compulsory recruitment of children under 18 for use in armed conflict. The African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child, which prohibits the recruitment or direct participation in hostilities or internal strife of anyone under the age of 18, entered into force in November 1999.
كذلك فإن اتفاقية منظمة العمل الدولية لعام 1999 (رقم 182) بشأن القضاء على أسوأ أشكال عمالة الأطفال تحظر التجنيد الاجباري أو القسري للأطفال دون الثامنة عشرة لاستخدامهم في الصراع المسلح، إضافة إلى أن الميثاق الأفريقي بشأن حقوق ورفاه الطفل الذي يحظر التجنيد أو المشاركة المباشرة في العمليات العسكرية أو في الصراعات الداخلية لأي فرد دون الثامنة عشرة دخل بدوره حيز التنفيذ في تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر 1999.
