It appreciated the contribution of an EU expert speaker to the deliberations of the United Nations Seminar on Assistance to the Palestinian People held in Cairo.

3. On 10 and 11 March 2009, the Committee had convened the United Nations Seminar on Assistance to the Palestinian People in Cairo.

2. The Chairman said that on 19 and 20 February 2008, the Committee had held the United Nations Seminar on Assistance to the Palestinian People in Amman and on 21 February 2008, the Committee's delegation had visited two Palestine refugee camps outside Amman.
2 - الرئيس: قال إن اللجنة عقدت يومي 19 و 20 شباط/فبراير 2008، حلقة الأمم المتحدة الدراسية بشأن تقديم المساعدة إلى الشعب الفلسطيني في عمان في 21 شباط/فبراير 2008، وزار وفد اللجنة مخيمين من مخيمات لاجئي فلسطين خارج عمان.

At the United Nations Seminar on Assistance to the Palestinian People, held in Cairo in February 2012, the Committee had learned that the occupation, which was the chief impediment to the stability of Palestinian institutions and to economic prosperity, had cost the Palestinian economy $7 billion in 2010.
وفي حلقة الأمم المتحدة الدراسية بشأن تقديم المساعدة للشعب الفلسطيني، المنعقدة في القاهرة في شباط/فبراير 2012، علمت اللجنة أن الاحتلال، الذي يشكل العقبة الرئيسية أمام استقرار المؤسسات الفلسطينية والازدهار الاقتصادي، قد كلّف الاقتصاد الفلسطيني 7 بلايين دولار في عام 2010.

2. In his message in March 2009 to the United Nations Seminar on Assistance to the Palestinian people, the Secretary-General had noted that the situation at the crossings was intolerable, and that Israel must take meaningful steps to ease the closure, without which Palestinian economic recovery could not take place.
2 - وأردف قائلا إن الأمين العام أشار في رسالته الموجهة في آذار/مارس 2009 إلى حلقة الأمم المتحدة الدراسية بشأن تقديم المساعدة إلى الشعب الفلسطيني إلى أن الحالة على المعابر لا يمكن احتمالها وأن على إسرائيل أن تتخذ خطوات ملموسة لتخفيف حدة الإغلاق إذ لا يمكن للإنعاش الاقتصادي الفلسطيني أن يتم بدون ذلك.

71. In his message of 10 March 2009 to the United Nations Seminar on Assistance to the Palestinian People, the Secretary-General called for a proper and durable ceasefire as soon as possible to allow for a return of calm in the Gaza Strip and southern Israel.
71 - ودعا الأمين العام في الكلمة التي ألقاها في 10 آذار/مارس 2009 أمام حلقة الأمم المتحدة الدراسية بشأن تقديم المساعدة إلى الشعب الفلسطيني، إلى وقف حقيقي ودائم لإطلاق النار في أقرب وقت ممكن لإتاحة الفرصة لعودة الهدوء إلى قطاع غزة وجنوب إسرائيل.

56. In Helsinki, on the sidelines of the United Nations Seminar on Assistance to the Palestinian People, the Committee delegation met with the Secretary-General and Chief of the Cabinet of the President of Finland, Päivi Kairamo-Hella, as well as with a number of Finnish parliamentarians and representatives of leading civil society organizations involved in conflict resolution efforts.
56 - وفي هلسنكي، التقى وفد اللجنة، على هامش حلقة الأمم المتحدة الدراسية بشأن تقديم المساعدة للشعب الفلسطيني، بالأمين العام وبرئيسة ديوان رئيسة فنلندا، بايفي كايرامو - هيلا، وبعدد من البرلمانيين الفنلنديين وممثلي منظمات المجتمع المدني الفنلندية الرئيسية التي تشارك في جهود تسوية النـزاعات.

Finally, she thanked him for his written contribution to the United Nations Seminar on data collection and the use of indicators to promote and monitor racial equality and on discrimination, which had been held in Rio de Janeiro from 3 to 5 May 2010.
وأخيراً، أعربت عن شكرها لمساهمته المكتوبة إلى حلقة الأمم المتحدة الدراسية بشأن جمع البيانات واستخدام المؤشرات لتعزيز ومراقبة المساواة العنصرية وبشأن التمييز التي عُقدت في ريو دي جانيرو في الفترة من 3 إلى 5 أيار/مايو 2010.
