I would note here that Kuwait serves as host country for the Regional Organization for the Protection of the Marine Environment (ROPME), established in 1978 by the Regional Convention for Cooperation on the Protection of the Marine Environment from Pollution whose goal is to conserve resources and marine ecosystems and protect them from pollution.

The Regional Organization for the Protection of the Marine Environment under the Kuwait Regional Convention for Cooperation on the Protection of the Marine Environment from Pollution organized capacity-building activities in support of the implementation of the Action Plan for the Protection and Development of the Marine Environment and the Coastal Areas.

The key ones are the regional seas conventions, namely; (1) Kuwait Regional Convention for Cooperation on the Protection of the Marine Environment from Pollution - ROPME (1978), (2) Regional Convention for the Conservation of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden Environment- PERSGA (Jeddah, 1982), and (3) Convention for the Protection of the Mediterranean Sea Against Pollution - MAP (Barcelona, 1976).

In this regard, a regional workshop for legal and technical experts on the Protocol for the Protection of the Marine Environment against Pollution from Land-based Sources to the Kuwait Convention was conducted in Manama in October 2008.

(vi) Monitor the results of the Meeting of Government-designated Experts Focusing on the 1985 Montreal Guidelines for the Protection of the Marine Environment against Pollution from Land-Based Sources, to be held in Montreal from 6 to 10 June 1994, which are expected to be useful for assisting small island developing States in that area.
' ٦ ' رصد نتائج اجتماع الخبراء الذين تسميهم الحكومات والمعني أساسا بمبادئ مونترياك التوجيهية لعام ١٩٨٥ بشأن حماية البيئة البحرية من التلوث الناجم عن المصادر البرية، المقرر عقده في مونتريال في الفترة من ٦ الى ١٠ حزيران/يونيه ١٩٩٤، ويتوقع لهذه النتائج أن تفيد في مساعدة الدول الجزرية الصغيرة النامية في هذا المجال.

At this time we would like to note that Kuwait is the host country of the Regional Organization for the Protection of the Marine Environment (ROPME), which was established by regional agreement in 1978, in order to promote cooperation in protecting the marine environment from pollution.
