It should be recalled that, in commenting on the obligations of Malaysia in its advisory opinion, the International Court of Justice had, inter alia, found that Dato'Param Cumaraswamy must be held financially harmless from any costs imposed by the Malaysian courts, in particular, taxed costs.
وتجدر الإشارة إلى أن محكمة العدل الدولية وجـدت في معرض تعليقها على واجبات ماليزيا في الفتوى التي أصدرتها، في جملة أمور أخرى، أن داتو بارام كوماراسوامي يجب ألا يتحمل أي تكاليف تفرضها المحاكم الماليزية، ولا سيما التكاليف المتعلقة بنفقات المحكمة.

The United Nations therefore maintains, in order to fulfil its obligations to hold Dato'Param Cumaraswamy financially harmless, that the Government of Malaysia should reimburse the Organization in the amount of US$ 118,145.91 for the legal expenses it paid on behalf of Dato'Param Cumaraswamy in connection with the four lawsuits.
ومن ثـم ترى الأمم المتحدة أن على حكومة ماليزيا أن تسدد للمنظمة مبلغا قيمته 145.91 118 دولارا من دولارات الولايات المتحدة مقابل النفقات القانونية التي دفعتها بالنيابة عن داتو بارام كوماراسوامي في الدعاوى الأربع، وذلك وفاء بواجباتها بعدم تحميل داتو بارام كوماراسوامي أي أعباء مالية.

وتبعا لذلك، قام رئيس اللجنة، بعد التشاور مع أعضاء المكتب، بتعيين داتو بارام كوماراسوامي )ماليزيا( مقررا خاصا.

By letter dated 21 April 1994, the Chairman of the Commission on Human Rights, following consultations with the Bureau, appointed Dato'Param Cumaraswamy (Malaysia) as Special Rapporteur.

The United Nations is grateful that the lawsuits pending in the Malaysian civil courts against Dato'Param Cumaraswamy have finally been dismissed in accordance with the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice of 29 April 1999.
وتعرب الأمم المتحدة عن امتنانها لـرد الدعاوى التي كانت مرفوعة في المحاكم المدنية الماليزية ضد داتو بارام كوماراسوامي أخيرا وفقا للفتوى القانونية التي أصدرتها محكمة العدل الدولية في 29 نيسان/أبريل 1999.
