Efforts in this direction resulted in three reports: on modalities of cooperation in development of shared water resources; on the establishment of a regional committee on natural resources; and on the progress achieved in the implementation of the Mar del Plata Action Plan.

54. The Mar del Plata Action Plan provides an overall framework for system-wide action related to water resources and freshwater ecosystems, and its progress is being examined in the key areas.
٥٤ - توفر خطة عمل مار دل بلاتا إطارا عاما من أجل العمل على صعيد المنظومة فيما يتعلق بموارد المياه والنظم الايكولوجية للمياه العذبة، وتجري دراسة التقدم المحرز بالنسبة للخطة في المجالات الرئيسية.

8. The Mar del Plata Action Plan of the United Nations Water Conference, together with chapter 18 and other elements of Agenda 21, provide the basic framework for the programmes and activities of the organizations and bodies of the United Nations system.

11. The Committee on Natural Resources has conducted periodic reviews of problems and issues in the field of water resources development and management in the context of the Mar del Plata Action Plan, and more recently in the context of chapter 18 of Agenda 21.
١١ - ولقد أجرت اللجنة المعنية بالموارد الطبيعية استعراضات دورية للمشاكل والقضايا في ميدان تطوير وإدارة موارد المياه في سياق خطة عمل مار دل بلاتا ومؤخرا في سياق الفصل ٨١ من جدول أعمال القرن ١٢.

72. The information available as well as previous evaluations of progress in the implementation of the recommendations of the Mar del Plata Action Plan suggests that while there has been progress in several areas, very serious problems persist, and in some cases those problems are becoming alarming.
٢٧ - توحي المعلومات المتوفرة، كما توحي عمليات التقييم السابقة للتقدم المحرز في تنفيذ توصيات برنامج عمل مار دل بلاتا: بأنه في حين حصل تقدم في مجالات عديدة. فإن المشاكل الخطيرة جدا لا تزال قائمة، وفي بعض الحالات أصبحت تلك المشاكل مزعجة.

1. At its second session, the Committee on Natural Resources noted with concern the slow pace of progress in the implementation of recommendations of the Mar del Plata Action Plan and Agenda 21.
