In his 2008 report on small arms (S/2008/258), the Secretary-General provided an overview of the negative impact of illicit small arms on security, human rights and social and economic development, in particular in areas of conflict.
قدم الأمين العام في تقريره لعام 2008 بشأن الأسلحة الصغيرة (S/2008/258) لمحة عامة عن الأثر السلبي الذي تحدثه الأسلحة الصغيرة غير المشروعة في الأمن وحقوق الإنسان والتنمية الاجتماعية والاقتصادية، لا سيما في مناطق النزاع.

That is why Senegal shares the view of many African countries that absolute priority must be given to strategies and policies to fight the proliferation of these conventional arms, and to eliminate their sale and traffic in them, especially in conflict zones.
ولهذا تشترك السنغال في وجهة نظر العديد من البلدان اﻷفريقية بأنه يجب إعطاء اﻷولوية القصوى للاستراتيجيات والسياسات الرامية إلى مكافحة انتشار هذه اﻷسلحة التقليدية، والقضاء على عمليات بيعها والاتجار بها، ولا سيما في مناطق النزاع.
