Mr. Sinaga (Indonesia): My delegation would like to recall that Indonesia has always fully supported cooperation between the United Nations and the Council of Europe.

16. Mr. Sinaga (Indonesia) said that his delegation was firmly in favour of the universal realization of the right of peoples to self-determination; however, the text of the draft resolution could be interpreted in different ways and posed difficulties for some delegations.

47. Mr. Sinaga (Indonesia) observed that, while no one was indifferent to human rights violations, wherever or whenever they occurred, the progress made should be acknowledged.

42. Mr. Sinaga (Indonesia) said that country-specific resolutions were counterproductive and that dialogue was more constructive in persuading countries to improve their human rights standards.
42 - السيد سيناغا (إندونيسيا): قال إن القرارات المتعلقة ببلد بعينه تعود بنتائج عكس النتائج المرجوة، وإن الحوار أجدى في إقناع البلدان لتحسين معاييرها المتعلقة بحقوق الإنسان.

52. Mr. Sinaga (Indonesia) observed that because the two delegations concerned had been unable to reach consensus through dialogue and cooperation, the Committee had been forced to vote on a contested text.

7. Mr. Sinaga (Indonesia) said that his country attached great importance to the work of the Committee on Relations with the Host Country as a forum for discussion of the practical issues that affected the work of diplomatic missions to the United Nations.

38. Mr. Sinaga (Indonesia) said that his delegation would vote in favour of the amendment in order to encourage all Governments and States to eradicate the practice of extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions.

85. Mr. Sinaga (Indonesia) said that the importance of international cooperation for promoting human rights was clearly stated in the Charter of the United Nations and the Millennium Declaration.

18. Mr. Sinaga (Indonesia) welcomed the opportunity to discuss the various issues raised by the Commission before its draft recommendations became hard law.

10. Mr. Sinaga (Indonesia) said that the rule of law laid the foundation for good governance, worldwide prosperity and peaceful coexistence and cooperation among States.
