7.9 The State party reiterates its position that the authors' complaint constitutes an abuse of process, insofar as it pursues purely political aims.

4.4 The State party also considers the authors' complaint inadmissible on the grounds that the events in question occurred prior to Burkina Faso's accession to the Covenant and the Optional Protocol, namely, 15 years ago.

7.7 With respect to the authors' claim that they are victims of a violation of article 14 (1) of the Covenant, the State party submits that the authors' complaint is fundamentally misconceived and amounts to an attempt to import into the article a content which is not consistent with the language of the article and which was not intended at the time the Covenant was drafted.
7-7 فيما يتعلق بزعم أصحاب البلاغ أنهم ضحايا انتهاك للمادة 14(1) من العهد، تحاجج الدولة الطرف بأن شكوى أصحاب البلاغ تقوم أساساً على فهم خاطئ وتشكل محاولة لإدخال معنى على المادة لا يتفق وصيغة المادة ولم يكن مقصوداً بها عند صياغة العهد.

With regard to the authors' claim that their rights under article 14, paragraph 1, of the Covenant have been violated as one of the authors' request to have witnesses summoned for questioning in court was dismissed, the Committee notes that, in essence, the authors' complaint relates to the manner in which national courts have evaluated evidence and what specific evidence was of relevance in the framework of the court trial.

4.18 With respect to the authors' claims under article 14, paragraph 1, of the Covenant, the State party indicates that the national courts, including the Supreme Administrative Court, thoroughly assessed the authors' complaint -- also from the standpoint of the special rights of the Sami -- taking into account international human rights obligations, especially those deriving from the Covenant.

The important point, however, is that neither the complaint of the authors nor the terms of the circular suggest that a more favourable treatment was being given to other unofficial languages.
