Mr. Schorm (Czech Republic) informed the Committee that since women held several high-ranking positions in the judiciary, including the posts of President of the Supreme Court and Prosecutor-General, the hypothesis that women did not occupy a significant number of high-level positions could not be borne out by the facts.

57. Mr. Schorm (Czech Republic) said that the principles of the reform of the Family Act, which had been guided, to a great extent, by the child's interests meant that divorce should be based more on subjective elements than on objective ones such as guilt.

30. Mr. Schorm (Czech Republic) said that the Ministry of Justice had made training in the Convention, its Optional Protocol and other international instruments, together with national legislation on gender issues, mandatory for members of the judiciary and prosecution services.

3. Mr. Schorm (Czech Republic) said that the views of the Ministry of Justice on positive or affirmative action, in particular its commitment to ensuring equal representation of men and women in managerial posts, were set out in the responses to the list of issues and questions.

Mr. Schorm (Czech Republic) said he was pleased that the Czech Republic had been given the opportunity to continue the open and constructive dialogue which it had embarked upon with the Committee during the consideration of its initial report and to report to the Committee on its ongoing efforts to comply with its international obligations in the area of the protection of civil and political rights.
